Travelling makes you understand life.
I am now in Cambodia, Siem reap. The gals have been wanting to have a holiday at Cambodia and so here we are.
It has been a fulfilling trip and incomparable to the Australia trip. This trip is more of the cultural side. I get to know the khmer turmoil and how thousands of people just lost their lives due to violence. The trip to the killing field was an unforgettable one. As the name suggested, it literally means a place to execute all the killings where thousands of innocent lives were taken. The way how they killed the babies, women and men was simply brutal and cruel. The mother witnessed how their babies were smashed against the tree till death. Such painful and inhumane scene.
I left Phnom Penh with a heavy heart after knowing the stories of Khmer rogue invasion and moving on to Siem reap was a totally different experience.
In Siem reap, you get to see tons of templates and sculptures. But, it is sad to know that many sculptures have been stolen and sold abroad. Hence, there are still lots of restoration works going on.
We were not able to capture beautiful sunrise due to the rain the day before. However, it was an eye opening experience to Angkor Wat. The architecture was magnificent and spectacular. It was pity that most of the templates were not in complete form.
Today marks the last day in Cambodia and I am sure absolutely that I will re visit this country again if given a chance. Also, the trip has somehow makes me want to do overseas volunteering work. We'll see how come 2014.
